Nashville, TN – Retired Army Colonel and former Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell, Lawrence B. Wilkerson discusses his direct experiences with the intentional deceptions perpetrated by the CIA under the Bush Administration to persuade the Secretary of State, the American public and the world community that Weapons of Mass Destruction existed in Iraq, thereby necessitating the need for the Iraq War, with host “Doctor Future” and co-host Tom Bionic, airing daily during the week of 25 January on the “Future Quake” program, broadcast on the Christian talk radio station WENO, 760 AM in Nashville, TN (and archived at http://www.futurequake.com). Colonel Wilkerson served in combat as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, followed by stints in the Airborne and Ranger schools, and teaching assignments at the Naval War and Marine Corps War Colleges. He eventually became a direct assistant to Colin Powell at the U.S. Army Forces Command, continuing in a similar role as Powell became Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in public life, and later as his Chief of Staff as Powell served as Secretary of State in the Bush White House. Most importantly, Wilkerson was responsible for reviewing information from the Central Intelligence Agency regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, and in preparing the presentation Powell subsequently gave to the United Nations in February 2003, thus arguing for their presence and the need for an international coalition to conduct military operations in Iraq. His later discovery that information strongly challenging the veracity of the pro-WMD position was intentionally withheld from State Department review at the time of the presentation, and other findings of the actions of other top administration officials such as Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld in furthering the aims of war-making and other aggressive actions, led Wilkerson to act as a “whistle-blower” in exposing these deceptive practices after his military retirement provided the opportunity. In this interview, he asserts that Cheney and Rumsfeld (and their agency and staff allies) were so aggressive in their agendas of wide-scale war, that intimidation and deceptive tactics were commonplace both within the military and government channels, and with the American public. Most shockingly, he suggests from his data that only a dozen or so “real” terrorists have resided within Guantanamo Bay, with the rest of the 800 or more residents having been innocent residents that were rounded up, often tortured, and continued to be detained for years after acknowledgement of their innocence was known. These assertions from a conservative military leader and “insider” provide an eye-opening, disturbing and unforgettable “Future Quake” episode.
